Hey! I'm Erik Poppen, a photographer and filmmaker born and raised in Northern Colorado and based in San Francisco, California. I work with both digital and analog mediums and get most inspired by being outdoors. As a photographer, filmmaker, snowboarder, skateboarder, backpacker, explorer, and an ambitiously adventurous person - I thrive in environments where I feel most alive, and make imagery representing that feeling. My work is in effort to provoke dialogue about our relationship with the natural world, and its place in each of us. I aim to shine a light on our wild spirit through colorfully energetic imagery that transcends any bystandership to life. I view my work as collaborative with my surroundings and foster a deep appreciation for the authenticity of the places I photograph. I follow my path behind the camera for the opportunity to collaborate with the persons and world around me, and for a finer look at those fleeting moments  - exploring my understanding of the human experience by photographing the environments that most stoke my fire,  people and the outdoors.
